Fayetteville Muay Thai & Kickboxing - Oh Do Kwan Striking Academy

We highly recommend Oh Do Kwan Striking Academy for anyone looking to learn martial arts. Our two boys started at 5 years old. The instructors are incredibly patient and knowledgeable (Joaquin, Bryce, and Brandon). Our children have not only improved physically but also gained a noticeable boost in confidence; the positive impact on their overall development is evident both at home and school.

This place is good and my son liked it overall. However, we won’t be returning because of the way the instructor sometimes speaks to the children. I am always in support of discipline and positive reinforcement. However, some of the things he says can be hurtful and I will not continue to spend my money to allow someone to speak to my child in a way that I wouldn’t. Specifically, there was an instance where my 6-year old son came into class for the first time with leg sleeves on and he looked at him and told him he looked ridiculous and should’ve known that he looked ridiculous when he looked in the mirror. Instead, he could’ve told him that he was out of uniform and instructed him to take them off. He could’ve also simply addressed me as the mother. I was immediately taken aback and instead of reacting too quickly out of anger, I waited a few days and called him and expressed how I felt. Though he apologized, it just never sat right with me. I have also witnessed other things that he has said that is out of line to many of the children and for that reason we will be continuing elsewhere.
